Role: Designer

  • Worked with a team of over 250 at a AAA studio on the sequel to the award winning third-person action game Shadow of Mordor
  • Collaborated with multiple disciplines including design, animation, FX, SFX, QA, engineering, and production to implement and balance key player melee, ranged, and mounted combat systems, player abilities, and mission mechanics
  • Owned the player combat abilities system where I prototyped, implemented, and helped balance dozens of the player’s combat abilities for melee, ranged, stealth, and mounted combat so that the abilities synergize with and augment regular combat actions in order to deliver exciting and creative gameplay and meet feature requirements
  • Designed unlock progression for player abilities so that character leveling feels rewarding
  • Prototyped, implemented, and helped balance a large percentage of player mounted combat for the two land-based mounts featured in the game to make riding and fighting on them a smooth, compelling, and unique combat experience
  • Designed, implemented, and balanced player and enemy combat content for three golden path campaign missions and five side missions to make them memorable cornerstones of the game experience and campaign
  • Balanced, polished, and eliminated bugs in many aspects of combat and missions to deliver top quality game systems and features on time
  • Contributed to weekly design discussions and mission reviews in the areas of combat, mounted combat, and progression with design feedback and content implementation estimates to guide new features
